It’s a great way to use up scraps or extra warp from another project or satisfy your curiosity about an interesting looking pattern or weave structure. Weave 5 to 10 identical samples roughly 6 inches by 7 inches in size. Obvious exceptions are braids and inkle or card woven bands. Putting on a little extra warp is the perfect way to participate with practically no extra effort. Remnants from a project are fine. Enclose a sheet of clearly written instructions including weave draft, materials, sett, finishing, proposed use and your name. The Sample Service Committee will make enough photocopies to accompany each sample. They will even cut the samples for you and reimburse you for materials if you ask them. Please contact Sue by March 15, 2010.
The Sample Service Sale has been ongoing for over 25 years having been started by Helen Wood Pope. We would like to carry on her great tradition at CNCH10. Not only do individual weavers receive an inspiring set of samples and instructions for a nominal fee, but the proceeds from this sale benefit CNCH. Since the American River College Textile Library has been closed, sets of samples from those sold at past conferences are available for loan from the Sacramento Weavers and Spinners Guild. Individuals or guilds can arrange for the loan of these books by contacting Carol Graves at carolswoolies-AT-yahoo-dotcom.

For those of you who are not familiar with a Yahoo group, it is a place on the internet, where an invited group of people can post information, photos, and files and they are only accessible to those same invited people. Photos of weaving and weaving events, meeting agendas or minutes,or items to be read and voted on, looms and equipment for sale, art shows, classes, gallery events can be posted by any one in the group, no need for a central person to do the mail-out. Our group will be limited to guild members, no one who is not an actual member of the guild will be invited into the group. It is also a good place to post questions about weaving, requests for help, or announcements of overcoming weaving challenges. In short, it is a great way to keep the camaraderie of a guild meeting going throughout the month.
When you get an invite to the loomshuttleguild yahoo discussion group - just say Yes!. You need to enter the email address you wish to receive mail at, and your name (does not have to be your real name) and how you wish to receive the posts - one at a time, or in a bundle once a day or once a week. You do not need to complete the entire Yahoo profile. Thanks to Donna LaVallee for setting this up and serving as moderator.
